Terrell Owens Working Out for Teams Today
Terrell Owens will be working out for teams today in California according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. My immediate question is who are the main teams that will be interested in signing him? T.O. had 72 receptions, 983 yards, and 9 touchdowns last season.
Rosenhaus said that "If teams are here he will be running drills, and if not he will be running routs, and catching passes." He also mentioned that the Titans have expressed running interest in Owens.
Titans: The Titans lost their number 1 receiver Kenny Britt for the year and would love a long ball threat like T.O.. Nate Washington has been carrying the load with 29 catches and is better fit in a 2nd receiver type roll. I'm sure the vet Matt Hasselbeck would love to have T.O. on his squad.
Chicago Bears: Chicago would be smart to look at T.O. considering their number one receiver is their running back with 38 catches, followed by Devin Hester with only 21. Hester has proven to be a dominant return man, but not a down field threat in the passing game. Chicago also has to compete with Green Bay and Detroit in their division who both sport high powered passing games.
Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay would also be smart to look at Owens. They expected Mike Williams to emerge as a big threat down field, but hasn't shown any life yet. He only has one touchdown and 31 receptions. It would make life a lot easier on him to have T.O. on the other side of the field. It would also help a still young QB in Josh Freeman.
St. Louis Rams: This seems like long shot considering their 0-6 record and the fact that Sam Bradford is injured. The only reason I mention them is that their receiving core is absolutely pathetic. Nobody on the team has 20 receptions on the year.
Oakland: Carson Palmer and T.O. reunion? Doubt this very much, but Carson could benefit from working with T.O. in the past and Oakland looked terrible last week. They also sport a very young receiving core that might benefit from some veteran presence. We all know T.O. might be a veteran, but won't necessarily bring that presence to the locker room.
Denver: For some odd reason I can see him landing in Denver. Obviously they just traded away Brandon Llyod and don't really have any other down field threats. T.O. would be Tebow's number one target and I doubt they would have to much trouble working together. Tebow would look his way just about every time he drops back. They have a 2-4 record, but as we all know anything can happen in the AFC West.
With that said nobody knows who he will go to, or even who else is looking at him. Hopefully someone will give him a shot so we can watch the drama unfold.
