Derek Lowe has been traded to the Cleveland Indians for pitching prospect Chris Jones. Like the Braves needed another C. Jones. The Braves are said to be eating about $5 million of the remaining $15 million on his contract.
Being a huge Braves fan I almost cried with joy when I heard this. Lowe played absolutely pathetic last year and every pitch I saw him throw seemed like it was 90mph right down the middle of the plate. He had a 9-17 record with a 5.05 era. Here is a scouting report on Chris Jones, who doesn't seem like a huge prospect, but does offer some youth and time to develop.
