22-Year-Old Pius Heinz Wins World Series of Poker

This is Pius Heinz a 22-year-old German who won the $8.72 million prize at the World Series of Poker earlier today.  He said a couple months ago he was contemplating going back to college or playing poker full time.  I think he made the right decision.

"Honestly I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the money," Heinz said
early Wednesday after winning the main event in a marathon session of
Texas Hold 'Em. "Probably my family is going to get a couple gifts."

Somehow Heinz won the tournament with an ace high.  His opponent Martin Staszko had a 7-10 of clubs.  Staszko went all in with that in his hand and Heinz called. Neither player hit a pair.  Heinz ended up on top with his ace high.  I assume he was going for the flush, but that doesn't seem like a hand that I would risk a WSOP championship for.  I don't consider myself a good poker player, but even I know you don't go all in on that bad of a hand.  Staskzo won $5.43 million for second place.

Once it was down to the two players, they exchanged the lead nine times
over 119 hands. At one point, Staszko had a nearly 4-to-1 chip edge on
Heinz.
