Peyton Manning Has Some Words for Phil Simms After Andrew Luck Comment
Peyton Manning spoke with media today about his on going injury recovery and the Colts season in general. As for the injury he didn't give much insight other than he is still waiting for the fusion to occur in his neck and a time table is still out of question. Phil Simms of CBS and Showtime made the comment Manning won’t “let” the Colts draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. This is what manning had to say to him today
Indianapolis Star - “Yeah, I don’t talk to Phil. Phil doesn’t talk to me. He did text me
after that, saying ‘Hey, sorry to drag your name into this.’ I wrote
back, ‘Phil I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ He said, ‘Well on
my show, Inside the NFL, I made this statement.’ I said, ‘Phil, I hate
to break it to you, but I don’t watch your show, along with a lot of
other people that I don’t think watch that show.’ Giving himself a
little more credit than probably was merited.
Wicked burn by Peyton. When asked if he would mentor Luck if they drafted him he again pushed the question aside and said, what if we win the next eight games in a row?
We all know that's not gonna happen, but apparently Peyton is a little more stubborn than we thought. I know Peyton doesn't want to look to the future and disrespect his teammate's, but the fact is they suck. With Peyton's neck injury lingering around longer than they thought it would, it's about time for him to face the fact. This is something he needs to start thinking about for the organizations benefit. Luck would be a huge pick up for their future, and he could play it like the Favre-Rodgers story. Take a couple more years to play and mentor him and then let him take over.
