Munoz Beats Leben, Wants Title Shot

Mark Munoz took care of business today when he met Chris Leben in the first 5 round non-title fight in UFC history.  Munoz won with a second round stoppage as Leben informed the ref he could no longer see.  Munoz out wrestled Leben and beat him to a pulp with his ground and pound.

Sherdog - “It’s hard to fight when you’re choking on blood,” Leben said. “He
caught me good. I couldn’t stick to anything. There was blood
everywhere. He was the national champion in wrestling. It doesn’t get
any better than that. I’m going to need to reevaluate my ground game
after that. I wanted to keep it standing, but he out wrestled me. My
hat’s off to Munoz.”
Leben is well known for his stand up skills and his ability to take a beating.  I have never seen him get taken down so easily and man handled, but that could have something to do with him always being on his feet.

After the fight Munoz called out the current champion Anderson Silva.  Munoz is 7-1 in his last eight fights, and has won four in a row.  His only loss is against the last person to beat Anderson Silva, Yushin Okami.

I agree that he has a pretty solid resume and is near the top of the division, but he might have to wait a while.  Dana White has already confirmed Sonnen as the next in line for a title shot.  Munoz might not be far behind Sonnen though.
