The Madden Curse Lives On With Peyton Hillis
Peyton Hillis has re-injured his hamstring in practice and is likely out of the game this weekend against Houston. Hillis has been involved in contract trouble, missed a game
earlier this season with strep throat, failed to show up for a Halloween party for kids, and the well documented hamstring injury. Hillis has compiled just 211 rushing yards and two touchdowns this year. He has only appeared in 4 of the 7 games that Cleveland has played and will miss one more this weekend.
Madden Curse History
2001 - Eddie George lost in the playoffs with the titans and never averaged over 3.3 yards per carry the rest of his career.
2002 - Daunte Culpepper threw 23 interceptions and broke the record for most fumbles lost in a season. The Vikings went 5-11.
2003 - Marshall Faulk did not register another 1,000 yard season after appearing on the cover, and was constantly plagued with knee injuries. He retired in 2005.
2004 - Michael Vick broke his fibula in a pre-season game as the Falcons went 5-11. He then went to jail for dog fighting.
2005 - Ray Lewis suffered a wrist injury that only let him play 15 games and did not record an interception that year.
2006 - Donovan McNabb tore his ACL and meniscus in his right knee vs. the Titans.
2007 - Shaun Alexander missed six starts as the leagues current MVP due to a foot injury. He never returned to the MVP form of Shaun Alexander.
2008 - Vince Young missed games due to a knee injury and Kerry Collins took over the starting QB position.
2009 - Brett Favre came out of retirement to play for the Jets while on the cover and led the league in interceptions with 22. He would later admit to a bicep injury that hindered his play late in the season.
2010 - Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu both appeared on the cover this year. Troy sprained his MCL in the season opender and missed four more games. He also missed more games due to a posterior cruciate ligament injury. Larry on the other hand only missed the pro bowl due to a rib injury. Troy got the brunt of the curse I guess.
2011 - Drew Brees played 6 weeks of the season with a torn MCL, but didn't miss any game. His interceptions rose from 11 to 22.
And the Curse Lives On.
