Anderson Silva to Drive Pace Car at Kobalt Tools 500 NASCAR Race
There are three races left in the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Next weekend is the Kobalt Tools 500 at Pheonix International Raceway. Anderson Silva was announced by UFC as the pace car driver for that race.
UFC - Undefeated UFC® middleweight champion Anderson Silva
will lead the field to the green flag behind the wheel of the Official
Pace Car – Toyota Venza – at the start of the Kobalt Tools 500 at
Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, Nov. 13.
“I've been a NASCAR fan for a long time and it's an honor to be part of
the upcoming event in Phoenix," Silva said. "I have much respect for
these guys and they are undoubtedly some of the toughest athletes in the
world. I can't wait to get in the pace car in Phoenix.”
Carl Edwards is leading the Sprint Cup Standings before this weekends race by 8 points over Tony Stewart. It still looks like anyone's title that can finish the last three races strong. Not sure if Silva is a big car guy, but I hope he doesn't twist the chassis and double clutch coming off the line. Little bit of my Fast and the Furious lingo. But yea that would be funny if Silva skidded out and couldn't get out of the way. Hopefully Chael Sonnen can take care of him in their second fight.
