250 Million Dollar Man Albert Pujols Chooses Angels
Albert Pujols has signed a 10-yeard 250 million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Angels. Never thought we would see Albert Pujols in any other uniform other than the Cardinals. After the Cardinals won the World Series this past season their manager Tony Larussa decided to retire which could have had an impact on Pujols. Also, Pujols is already 31 years old and probably realizes he can't do this forever. In the American League he can play half his contract as a first baseman and half as a designated hitter. He wouldn't have that option in the National League.
The Angeles finished in second place in the AL West behind the Texas Rangers and 5 back in the wild card. Pujols should make an immediate impact on that and at least get them in the wild card running by the end of next season. The Angeles are also pursuing Rangers pitcher C.J. Wilson who finished last season 16-7 with a 2.94 ERA. Pujols signing should have somewhat of an impact on Wilson's decision.
