Now this is why Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the league. Not only because he has the total package of being able to make cuts, being huge, and being fast, but because he wants to do it for the fans. More specifically his fantasy owners.
Peterson could easily take the last couple weeks of the year off to rest his high ankle sprain, but he wants to get back on the field asap. Peterson said recently that he's around 85%, but plans to play this weekend against the Saints. Most fantasy leagues are either starting their first round of the playoffs this week or entering the second round. If you're a Peterson owner and your still alive you've been without the star for the past three weeks and would love to have him back.
Peterson told reporters “It’s very important, especially for my fantasy team owners. They’ve
been giving me a hard time”. “They’ll say ‘Will you please (play). I’ll
send my wife down to visit you.’” Sometimes it’s like, wow. Some of the
things I read on there (Twitter) is crazy”
Now clearly Peterson could just tell everyone he's going to play and get a bunch of hot house wives only to cancel the next day, but we assume he's in it for the fans and probably gets enough strange on his own. Peterson is also just 128 yards short of reaching 1,000 yards for the season. This would be his 5th strait 1,000 yard season.
