Ohio State Banned From Bowl Game in 2012

ESPNThe NCAA hit Ohio State with a one-year bowl ban and other penalties
Tuesday for a scandal that involved eight players taking a total of
$14,000 in cash and tattoos in exchange for jerseys, rings and other
Buckeyes memorabilia.

The university had previously offered to
vacate the 2010 season, return bowl money, go on two years of NCAA
probation and use five fewer football scholarships over the next three
years.

But the NCAA countered with a bowl ban in Urban Meyer's
first year as head coach in 2012, further reduced the number of
scholarships and tacked on a year of probation.

So USC got banned for two years based off of one player getting illegal benefits and Ohio State gets banned for one year based on eight people getting illegal benefits?  Seams like Ohio State should be skipping around with joy based on that.  I mean they honestly had to be thinking about the Penn State scandal in the back of their heads and acted accordingly.  No way they should have gotten a lesser penalty than USC. Yeah, yeah, I know Reggie Bush got a freaking house, but it's the simple fact that 7 more people got caught and they got less of a penalty. I would say they should let the two schools play next year, but USC will be bowl eligible again in 2012.
