Freddie Roach Thinks Manny Pacquiao Would Retire After Mayweather Fight

The most hyped fight in the history of boxing seems to be getting a little closer. Freddie Roach sat down with 590 The Fan in Toronto to discuss the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight and Pacquiao's future in boxing.

"The thing is if Pacquiao does lose that fight – well win or lose I
think he will retire. I think that’s gonna be his last fight. He’s
really into politics and so forth and politics is going to take him away
from boxing that’s for sure. Politics is something he wants to be good
at. It’s not like the singing or dancing and acting, that’s more for
fun. This is serious business and something he wants to be good at. It’s
gonna take 100 percent of his time to be good at that. I feel if we do
fight Mayweather, win or lose I think it will be his last fight.”

Roach then went on to discuss how great the fight would be with Pacquiao and Mayweather, and that if he didn't bring his A game he would lose. Marquez has given Pacquiao trouble in all three of their fights, and almost beat him in the last fight. Mayweather brings many similar fighting skills to the ring that Marquez does, and is even faster. They are both counter punchers and that hasn't sit well with Pacquiao in his past.  Roach confirmed that negotiations are going on for the Mayweather fight and that they both hope it will get done.

Manny has been involved in politics for a while and won a seat as a Congressman in the Philippines earlier this year.  Hopefully this fight will get done while Pacquiao's head is still in the sport.  If his government duties got him off track in the Marquez fight, he can't let that happen again.  Mayweather is to good and it will take Pacquiao at his best to beat him.
